Antler Dog Chews

If Stagbars are a little too hard for your dog or they aren't that interested and you would like to encourage them to chew on antler (it's a great, odourless, ethical, long lasting, healthy chew for a dog) try fallow deer antler as it's a lot softer. Both my dogs enjoy Stagbars but I also give them fallow antler as an alternative. You can also get antler that is cut lengthways so they can get to the marrow that encourages chewing.

Having done a lot of research prior to collecting Luna, we had decided to feed her a BARF diet (for more details, see the Feeding section under Cockapoo Care). We chose Natural Instinct because time is limited so it is easier than making our own food, and it gives a balanced diet with added vegetables and oil. However, it is the Customer Service offered by NI that really impressed us. If you have any questions or if your dog has become fussy, you are not on your own. They are always willing to offer you help or advice either on the phone or on email. As for the food itself, Luna has her favourites from their range. Her weight is fine, her coat is shiny and her poos are firm and not smelly at all. Dave and Harri
Stagbar Antler Dog Chews

Keen to find a natural, long lasting dog chew I was fascinated by threads on ILMC where several members discussed Stagbars which are basically a length of naturally shed deer antler. I finally tried one with Flo when I came across some at the Puredog stand at the Norwich 'All About Dogs' show. It took a smear of honey at the end to get her interested but, once started, she was content to gnaw away on it several times throughout the day and is still happy to chew on stagbars several months later. The stagbar is dry, clean and fairly pleasant to look at and have lying around, compared to alternatives like pig ear, hooves and raw hide chews, and both my older dog and my puppy really enjoy them. They are long lasting (the medium size I bought lasted for 4 months until it was gnawed down to a small stub), have no smell and are completely dry so don't make a mess. Great for teeth cleaning too and Puredog also claim they have some mineral goodness. Mandy
